2: LINE UP

Comparing & ordering fractions

In the first Mega Mini Game, students divide up jobs and build card holders. Players draw & discard to place 5 fraction cards in order.

Adding fractions

Students change groups for session 3. After building a fraction grid, players bounce ping pong balls into targets, trying to cover squares and make 1 whole.

Equivalent fractions

Comparing fractions

Working as a whole class, players generate ideas for game “worlds,” defining settings, goals, and obstacles. At the end of the session, students join their teams for the rest of Design Camp.

Subtracting mixed fractions

The 1st game at Design Camp 2 uses a long number line, a launch track, and a slider. Players draw a mixed fraction, then try to reach that target on multiple slides.
