The MEGA MINI GAMES projects invite your students to play ultra fun, math-rich fraction games, then work as a team to design their own game!

In DESIGN GAME X (grade 4+), students will:

• Do team problem-solving challenges with a Mega Building Kit

• Play LINE UP and learn to compare and order fractions

• Play LAUNCHBALL and learn to add fractions

• Play FINISH LINE and learn to multiply unit fractions by whole numbers

• Play GAME X for more practice comparing and ordering fractions

• Create a "game world"

• Create goals and obstacles for their game

• Make a game board and game pieces

• Write and perform a commercial for their game

• Host a Game Expo

Through these activities, students learn to:

• Recognize fractions as numbers
• Compare and order fractions
• Find equivalent fractions
• Add fractions with like denominators
• Multiply whole numbers by unit fractions

In THE NEXT BIG GAME (grade 5+), students will:

• Do team problem-solving challenges with a Mega Building Kit

• Play MINI GAMES and add fractions with unlike denominators

• Play COLLISION and learn to multiply fractions

• Play ROLLERSLIDE and learn to subtract mixed fractions

• Play APEX and learn to divide whole numbers and fractions

• Design a basic game

• Create a plan for a new game

• Produce their game and create a logo

• Make scorecards

• Host a Game Expo

Through these activities, students learn to:
