Welcome to MEGA MINI GAMES: The Next Big Game.
Here is everything you need to lead this project!

BEFORE YOU START: Project Overview

MODULES

1: WELCOME TO CAMP

Measuring with fractions

In the opening session, students build a Mega Mini Meter Stick and measure objects to the nearest one-tenth of a meter.

2: MINI GAMES

Adding fractions

Students continue measuring with fractions, playing Mini Games that require them to add fractions with like denominators.

3: ROLLERSLIDE

Subtracting mixed fractions

Students play ROLLERSLIDE! They’ll subtract mixed numbers by counting up along the number line or regrouping.

4: COLLISION

Multiplying fractions by whole numbers

Students knock marbles into different scoring zones, using visual models and repeated addition to multiply fractions and calculate their score.

5: APEX

Dividing fractions

In APEX, students take turns pushing sliders into either a whole number or a unit fraction target. They divide one by the other to find their score.

6: DESIGN TRAINING

Fraction operations

Students build a target and figure out what fraction of the whole each part represents. Then, they’ll design a game using the target.

7: GAME PLAN

Fraction operations

The final design project starts! Students will create their own MEGA game, making mats, equipment, and game pieces.

8: GAME PRODUCTION

Fraction operations

Groups develop final game designs and rules, and create a square logo using specific fraction criteria.

9: KEEPING SCORE

Fraction operations

Groups design and produce a scorecard for their game, using an equation with at least one fraction operation.

10: GAME EXPO

Fraction operations

Students introduce their games and teach others how to keep score. If you’d like, invite guests to join your classroom!
